  • Microsites on small terraces with a maximum area of 9 acres
  • not suitable for large-scale mechanisation
  • the total net vineyard area is approx. 0.6 hectares
  • the number of vines is between 180 and 350 per vineyard, totalling approx. 1300 vines

Terroir and single vineyards

Primary terroir:

  • Pinot Blanc: Malterdinger Bienenberg with weathered shell limestone soil
  • Silvaner, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir: Ihringer Fohrenberg with fine-pored and nutrient-rich drifting sand (loess) on volcanic stone
  • These are exclusively VDP Erste Lage sites

Secondary terroir:

  • Weiand
The vineyards

Vines

  • ‘old vines’ with a service life of over 30 to 40 years 
  • deep-rooted with high resilience to drought stress  
  • maximum adaptation to soils and microclimate
  • lower, high-quality yield due to age

The maximum yield is approx. 250 litres/10 ares per year, the total volume approx. 1500 litres p.a.
