Vines

  • Deep roots with high resilience to drought stress
  • Maximum adaptation to soils and microclimate
  • Age-related lower, high-quality yield

Vineyards

  • Microsites on small terraces with a maximum area of 9 acres
  • not suitable for large-scale mechanisation
  • the total net vineyard area is approx. 0.6 hectares
  • the number of vines is between 180 and 350 per vineyard, totalling approx. 1300 vines

The maximum yield is approximately 150 litres/10 ares per year, with a total volume of approximately 800 litres.

Terroir and individual vineyards

Primary terroir:

  • Pinot Blanc: Malterdinger Bienenberg with shell limestone weathered soil
  • Silvaner, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir: Ihringer Fohrenberg with fine-pored and nutrient-rich windblown sand (loess) on volcanic rock
  • These are exclusively VDP First Growth vineyards
